Aluminum and zinc are two important nonferrous metals, which are widely used in construction, electronic and electric power, transportation, consumer durables and other industries. They cover a wide range of fields and have great influence. For many years, China has ranked first in the world in the production, processing and consumption of aluminum and zinc. There are many related enterprises of aluminum and zinc in China, and the demand for risk management is strong.

Both aluminum futures and zinc futures are the mature non-ferrous varieties of SHFE in the last period. Zinc futures have been listed for 13 years, while aluminum futures have been developed for 28 years. Over the years, the two futures markets have been running smoothly and functioning effectively, playing an active role in serving enterprise risk management and price discovery.

In recent years, with the supply-side structural reform and industrial upgrading, non-ferrous enterprises have increased their demand for refined and diversified risk management. The market has been calling for the launch of option products on the basis of aluminum futures and zinc futures to enrich risk management tools in the non-ferrous industry.

From the perspective of meeting the actual needs of real enterprises, aluminum options and zinc options were launched in the previous period to provide enterprises with flexible and diversified risk management tools and help them improve their risk management level, which is of great significance to the industrial upgrading and optimization of the industrial structure of non-ferrous industries.

Subsequently, SHFE will continue to improve the derivative product chain of non-ferrous varieties, and research and launch more non-ferrous options such as nickel options and lead options, so as to gradually achieve full coverage of non-ferrous varieties and serve the whole industry well.
